Information we collect

If you create an account, we collect:

• Name, email address, and password (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text)
• Phone number, only if you choose to provide one for alerts
• Your alert preferences and saved searches
• Deals you submit, vote on, or approve as a community member

Whether or not you have an account, we also log:

• Search queries entered on the site
• Basic page-view and interaction activity, used to improve the site and rank deals

How we keep you signed in

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in — it identifies your session only, not you personally, can't be read by other websites, and is cleared when you sign out. We don't use it (or anything else) to track you across other sites, and we don't use advertising cookies. We do use Google Analytics to count visits, explained next.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used in total: how many people visit, which pages and deals are viewed, how visitors found us, and what kind of device they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. We use the results to improve the site, not to identify you, and we don't combine them with your account details.

To opt out, you can install Google's opt-out browser add-on, or block cookies in your browser settings. The site works the same either way. Google's own handling of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Third parties we use

• Our email provider, to send account verification, password reset, and deal-alert emails
• Google Analytics, to measure overall site traffic and which pages are popular (see "Analytics and cookies" above)
• Google's Gemini AI, to power the "Deal Concierge" assistant — your search text is sent to generate a response, grounded only in our own deal listings; if that service is ever unavailable, Deal Concierge falls back to a plain keyword search instead
• Affiliate networks (which may include Amazon Associates and others as our program partnerships grow) — when you click a deal, you leave our site and that merchant or network's own privacy practices apply

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Your choices

• You can edit or delete your saved searches/alerts at any time from your account page
• You can request that we delete your account and associated personal data by emailing us
• If you're a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA to know what personal information we hold and to request its deletion — contact us to exercise these rights

Children's privacy

ThanksForDeals is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
